LEAF Shelter Has Beagles

Frank Manchak is a long-standing member of the Beagle Brigade from Riverside County.  Our adoption program functions only within San Diego County.  However, Frank shares a passion for this champion breed, and is the liaison between the LEAF Shelter in Lake Elsinore (also in Riverside County) and the Beagle Brigade. He monitors the shelter for any new Beagle arrivals and will work with interested parties to get them adopted as he has over the years.  Frank conducts a yard inspection, as required by the shelter, to assure a secure yard and allow adoptions through the Beagle Brigade adoption program.  He prefers that Beagles be adopted through our organization because of the quality of care they receive and deserve. Frank tries to get these dogs out of the LEAF Shelter ASAP since its a "kill" shelter and they only hold the dogs for a short time before euthanizing...and the dogs are kept outside exposed to extreme temperatures, either blistering in the summer or freezing in winter.

Over the years, Frank has been terrific about getting the dogs out of the shelter and fostering them at his own home while he works to get them adopted.  However, as you might imagine, this many dogs is more than he can handle, particularly since he has 2 Beagles of his own.  So he is not only looking for people who would like to adopt one (or more) of the available Beagles, he is also looking for people who would be willing to foster a dog or two so that he can get them out of the shelter.  Nighttime temperatures are now very cold and the dogs are being housed outside, plus he is always worried about the euthanization schedule.  Frank says that he would even be willing to transport the dog(s) to your home if you are willing to help.

Frank is looking for a pet friendly home for the dogs with people who consider their pets as part of the family, not people who want a dog for utility purposes (such as just for a guard dog out in the yard).  Homes with yards, soft places to sleep, inside/outside privileges and more interesting food than just a bowl of dry food plopped on the floor.  A home with another dog (maybe a Beagle?) would be ideal.  If you have any questions about the dogs, or the adoption fee and/or fostering arrangements that Frank facilitates through the LEAF shelter, or would like to make an appointment for a meet-up with Frank and a dog somewhere in San Diego County, please e-mail Frank at:  frankm58@gmail.com.  (Please note that Frank also puts a posting on Craigslist, so if you see it there you might wonder if it's the same dogs...and it is.)
